Mumbai Police Investigate Six Deaths in Vasai-Virar Area Over 16 Days

Six bodies discovered in Vasai-Virar near Mumbai in 16 days; police investigating causes, including murder and accidents.

In the past 16 days, the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation area near Mumbai, India, has witnessed a string of disturbing discoveries, with six bodies recovered under various circumstances. Authorities are investigating the cases to determine whether they are linked or separate incidents, while residents express growing concern over public safety.

The most recent discovery occurred on Sunday evening, when police found the decomposed body of an unidentified man, estimated to be between 45 and 50 years old, near Virar Phata along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway. The body, described as having a white beard, was found amid a pile of garbage. Police have sent the remains for post-mortem examination, but it is not yet clear whether the man died of natural causes, an accident, or foul play.

This series of recoveries began on March 21, when a woman’s decomposed body was discovered in Shirvali, Virar East. Police investigations revealed that she had been killed by her husband, who, along with an accomplice, was subsequently arrested. Two days later, the body of a missing six-year-old girl was found inside a well in Nalasopara. Authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of the child’s death, and the case remains under investigation.

Officials have urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The Vasai-Virar police are coordinating investigations across these cases and have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to uncover the facts behind each death. While authorities have made arrests in some cases, several incidents remain unresolved, prompting concern about the safety of the community.

As investigations continue, the sequence of discoveries has heightened awareness about crime and safety in the suburban areas surrounding Mumbai. Law enforcement agencies emphasize the need for timely reporting and community cooperation to prevent further tragedies and bring clarity to the ongoing investigations.
