Massive Arms Haul in Manipur: 90 Firearms Seized
Security Forces Uncover Huge Cache in Imphal Valley Raids
In a stunning crackdown on Saturday, security forces seized a staggering 90 firearms, 728 rounds of ammunition, and explosives across five districts in Manipur’s Imphal Valley. The coordinated raids, conducted in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur, were launched following a critical tip-off, according to a Manipur Police statement.
Joint teams, including the Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, Army, and Assam Rifles, uncovered an arsenal that included three AK-series rifles, one M16 rifle, five INSAS rifles, one INSAS light machine gun, four self-loading rifles, 20 pistols, four carbines, seven .303 rifles, and eight other rifles. The haul also contained 21 grenades, six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 21 magazines, and 24 wireless handsets.
The operations mark a significant blow to illegal arms trafficking in the region, highlighting the ongoing efforts of security forces to curb violence and restore stability in Manipur. Authorities are investigating the origins and intended use of the seized weapons and explosives.
