Massive 121 kg Cannabis Haul at Sealdah Station, 8 Arrested
Huge cannabis bust at Sealdah station!
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Eastern Railway seized 121 kg of cannabis, valued at over ₹24 lakh, from the 13148 Uttarbanga Express at Sealdah station on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, RPF personnel searched the train upon its arrival from north Bengal, uncovering the drugs concealed in six bags. Eight individuals—four men, two women, and two juveniles—were apprehended in connection with the smuggling attempt.
The suspects and seized narcotics were handed over to the Sealdah Government Railway Police (GRP), who registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This major bust underscores ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking through Kolkata’s bustling Sealdah station, a key rail hub in the Eastern Railway zone.
