#JUSTIN: Gujarat Police Arrest Parents For Killing Son, Staging Suicide
Gujarat parents arrested for killing son, staging it as suicide.
A 23-year-old man’s death, initially reported as a suicide, has been classified as an alleged murder after a post-mortem examination and police investigation pointed to the involvement of his parents. The incident took place on June 30 in Gundala village of Gondal taluka in Rajkot district, and both parents have since been arrested following a complaint filed by the victim’s wife.
The victim, identified as Ram Babubhai Bambhava, had reportedly been struggling with alcohol addiction, which frequently led to arguments with his parents. Police said tensions within the family escalated on the day of the incident, resulting in a violent confrontation between Ram and his father, Babubhai, and mother, Manishaben.
According to the police investigation, Ram’s mother allegedly forced him to consume acid during the dispute, while his father is accused of assaulting and later strangling him. The parents allegedly attempted to present the death as a suicide. However, detailed medical findings later indicated that the victim had died as a result of poisoning and strangulation, prompting investigators to treat the case as a homicide.

Police further alleged that the victim’s father attempted to use local political influence to avoid suspicion after the death. Investigators said he contacted several local leaders in an effort to have a quick panel post-mortem conducted at Gondal Civil Hospital. The alleged attempt to conceal the circumstances of the death was later uncovered during the investigation.
Following the autopsy findings, Ram’s wife, Banshiben Bambhava, who had married him about four months earlier, filed a formal complaint against her in-laws. Based on her complaint and the medical evidence, Gondal police registered a murder case and arrested both Babubhai and Manishaben for their alleged involvement in the killing and subsequent attempt to portray the death as suicide.
Police are continuing to investigate the sequence of events and the alleged efforts to conceal the crime. Ram, whose father runs a local tea stall, was the eldest of four siblings. Investigators are expected to examine further evidence and statements as they build the case against the accused, while authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
