Investigation Finds Possible Murder Plot Behind Ketan Agarwal’s Initially Accidental Death

Initial accident theory collapses as murder plot emerges.

A 22-year-old businessman’s death at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala has taken a major turn after initially being treated as an accidental fall, with police now alleging that his fiancée conspired with another man to kill him. The case involves Ketan Vishal Agarwal, whose death on June 18 was first reported as a tragic trekking accident but has since been reclassified as a suspected murder following fresh evidence and inconsistencies in the initial account.

According to officials, Agarwal had visited Lohagad Fort with his fiancée Siya Goyal on what was meant to be a birthday outing for her, as she was set to turn 20 the following day. During the visit, Goyal reportedly told police that Agarwal slipped while taking photographs near the fort and fell into a valley. Based on this statement and the initial on-ground assessment, authorities had treated the incident as an accidental death.

However, doubts soon emerged after Agarwal’s family challenged the circumstances of the fall. They told investigators that he was an experienced trekker familiar with Lohagad Fort and its terrain, and argued that he would not have lost balance so easily at that location. The family’s objections prompted police to reopen the investigation and re-examine the sequence of events leading to his death.

As scrutiny intensified, investigators began identifying inconsistencies in the original narrative provided by Goyal. Police said that further questioning and analysis suggested that the incident may not have been accidental. According to the latest findings cited by officials, Goyal was in a relationship with another man, identified as Chetan Chaudhary, and allegedly did not intend to marry Agarwal. Investigators claim the two then conspired to eliminate him, although detailed evidence has not been publicly disclosed.

Authorities stated that the case shifted direction after these discrepancies came to light, leading to a formal investigation into suspected murder. Police are now reconstructing the events of June 18, including the couple’s movements at Lohagad Fort, communication records, and witness accounts, to establish how Agarwal fell into the valley and whether it was staged as an accident.

The case has drawn widespread attention due to the dramatic shift from an assumed accidental death to an alleged premeditated conspiracy. While initial reports suggested a tragic trekking mishap, the investigation has now raised serious questions about intent, motive and planning. Officials said the probe remains ongoing and further forensic and digital evidence will be crucial in determining the final outcome of the case.
