Dhanbad Horror: Woman’s Half-Burnt Body Found, Brothers Give Conflicting Statements
Conflicting accounts raise questions in the Dhanbad woman's death case.
A disturbing case has emerged from Dhanbad, where the half-burnt body of a woman, identified as Lipika Kumari, was recovered from her home under mysterious circumstances. According to police, the body was discovered four days after her death when neighbours alerted authorities about a foul smell coming from the house. The incident has raised serious questions due to conflicting statements given by the victim’s two brothers, deepening suspicion around the sequence of events.
Police said Lipika Kumari is believed to have died on April 7 at her residence in Govindpur. Her elder brother, Pranav Rajyavardhan, claimed that she had been unwell and vomiting multiple times before collapsing. He stated that he tried to care for her and later informed his younger brother about the situation. However, authorities noted that no immediate attempt was made to inform the police or seek medical assistance, which has become a key point in the investigation.
In a shocking claim, Pranav told police that he burnt parts of his sister’s body inside the house after it began to decompose. He alleged that the delay led to insect infestation, and he resorted to burning the body in an attempt to deal with the situation. He also maintained that his younger brother had seen the body during this period. This statement has raised serious concerns about possible tampering with evidence and the circumstances surrounding Lipika’s death.

However, the younger brother, Pradyut Rajyavardhan, has strongly denied these claims, stating that he neither saw the body nor was informed about his sister’s condition or death. He told police that he was not present at the time of the incident and only learned about it later. This contradiction between the brothers’ accounts has become central to the investigation, with police trying to establish a clear timeline of events.
Officials have sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary reports also suggest that Lipika had been dealing with depression following the death of her father in 2023. Police say all angles, including negligence, foul play, and mental health factors, are being examined. Further investigation is underway to uncover the truth behind the tragic and unsettling incident.
