Delhi Police Arrest Teacher Over Alleged Role In Rs 10-Crore Ransom Linked To Bishnoi Gang
Teacher accused of aiding alleged extortion racket.
Delhi Police's Special Cell has arrested a 35-year-old mathematics teacher for allegedly assisting a gang linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in an extortion case involving a demand of Rs 10 crore from a businessman. The accused, identified as Amit Bishnoi alias Rudra Pratap Singh, is alleged to have carried out surveillance on the victim and shared sensitive information with gangster Hari Boxer, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to police, Amit Bishnoi, a BTech graduate originally from Hisar in Haryana and residing in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the businessman’s office. Investigators said he recorded videos of the premises and shared details about the victim’s family and business operations with Hari Boxer, who allegedly used the information to issue extortion threats.
Police said the businessman, based in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, received a WhatsApp call from an international number on June 15, 2026. The caller allegedly identified himself as Hari Boxer and demanded Rs 10 crore, threatening to kill the businessman and his children if the money was not paid within a week. The caller also reportedly sent a video of the victim’s office and warned that the premises could be blown up if the ransom demand was ignored.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station on July 8, and the investigation was transferred to the Special Cell. Using technical surveillance and other intelligence inputs, investigators traced Amit Bishnoi, who allegedly admitted to collecting information about the businessman, his family and business before passing it on to Hari Boxer.
Police said Amit completed his BTech degree in Faridabad before moving to Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar to prepare for UPSC and SSC examinations. Since 2018, he had been working as a mathematics teacher at various coaching institutes in the area. Investigators further claimed that he first came into contact with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Haryana in 2014 through a common acquaintance and later established links with Hari Boxer.
The Special Cell is now investigating whether Amit Bishnoi assisted the gang in identifying other potential targets in Delhi or participated in similar reconnaissance activities in the past. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of his alleged involvement and identify any additional persons connected to the extortion network.
