Delhi Police Arrest 14 In Gambling Racket Bust At Dwarka JJ Colony

Delhi Police arrested 14 people in Dwarka after busting an illegal gambling racket and seizing betting materials.

The Dwarka District Police on Tuesday busted an illegal gambling racket operating in JJ Colony, Sector-3, Bindapur, and arrested 14 people allegedly involved in the activity during a late-night raid. Police officials said the operation was part of an intensified crackdown on organised crime in the area, aimed at curbing illegal gambling and other unlawful activities in residential neighbourhoods.

According to police, the raid was conducted after specific intelligence inputs were received on May 7 around 10 p.m. regarding gambling activities taking place in the locality. Acting on the tip-off, a specialised team from the Dwarka District Special Staff, led by Inspector Kamlesh Kumar under the supervision of ACP Operations Subhash Malik, was deployed to monitor and verify the information before planning the operation.

At around 10:30 p.m., the police team observed a group of individuals gathered in a narrow lane in JJ Colony allegedly engaged in gambling activities. The officers then moved in and conducted a surprise raid, successfully apprehending all 14 suspects on the spot. The operation was carried out swiftly to prevent any escape or destruction of evidence.

During the search, police recovered stake money amounting to ₹6,810 along with a range of gambling-related materials. These included satta slips, charts, writing pads, carbon papers, pens, registers, and mobile phones believed to be used for recording transactions and coordinating betting activities. Officials said the seized items indicated an organised pattern of gambling operations being carried out in the area.

Following the arrests, a case was registered at Police Station Bindapur under relevant sections of the Gambling Act. Police identified the accused as residents from different parts of Dwarka, Uttam Nagar, Matiala, and nearby localities, suggesting a network of participants from across the district. All accused were taken into custody after preliminary interrogation, and further questioning is underway.

Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the arrested individuals are part of a larger gambling syndicate operating across the national capital. Police also said that surveillance in vulnerable areas has been increased and intelligence networks strengthened to prevent the recurrence of such illegal activities and maintain law and order in residential colonies.
