Delhi Law Student Stabbed to Death by Relatives Over Trivial Dispute

A promising 27-year-old first-year LLB student of Delhi University’s renowned Campus Law Centre was brutally stabbed to death on Friday morning in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar locality, with the alleged killers being none other than his own uncle, aunt, and cousins in a shocking outburst of familial violence that has left the entire neighbourhood stunned.
The victim, Md Irshad, was attacked around 11.30 am in full public view after a seemingly insignificant argument over cleaning the lane outside their houses share escalated into an uncontrollable rage. Irshad sustained multiple deep stab wounds across his body and collapsed in a pool of blood before neighbours could intervene.
His sister, the sole eyewitness, told police that their uncle Mubarak (50), a mason by profession, his wife Rihana Khatoon (47), elder son Ishtiyaq (26), and younger son (15) jointly assaulted Irshad with knives. Despite being rushed to Majidia Maqbool Memorial Hospital within minutes, doctors declared him dead on arrival, unable to save him from the severity of the injuries.

CCTV cameras installed in the narrow lane captured the entire sequence, showing the initial heated exchange quickly turning into a frenzied attack as the accused allegedly retrieved sharp weapons from their house. Investigators have described the footage as chilling evidence of how a trivial domestic dispute exploded into cold-blooded murder within seconds.
Authorities have registered a murder case, taken all adult accused into custody, and apprehended the juvenile offender, while forensic teams collect blood samples and murder weapons from the spot. Senior officers confirmed the motive was purely a petty cleanliness issue that spiralled out of control, highlighting the terrifying fragility of family ties in the incident.
