Delhi Launches First All-Women Police Station Staffed Entirely By Female Officers
Delhi inaugurates first all-women police station to strengthen women’s safety.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Friday inaugurated the city’s first dedicated Women Police Station staffed entirely by female personnel in the Subzi Mandi area of North District. The initiative is aimed at strengthening women-centric policing and creating a more accessible and secure environment for victims to report crimes without hesitation.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor said that a safe and empowered woman forms the foundation of a progressive society. He added that the new facility reflects a broader commitment to ensuring dignity, safety, and confidence for women approaching law enforcement authorities, particularly in sensitive cases involving domestic violence, harassment, and stalking.
The women-only police station is part of a broader set of initiatives under the Delhi Police aimed at improving gender-sensitive policing. Officials said the station will function with an all-female workforce, allowing complainants to interact in a more comfortable setting while receiving timely assistance and legal support.

The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted the importance of expanding such initiatives across the capital. He directed the Delhi Police to consider setting up additional women-focused stations and support structures, noting that such steps would help strengthen public trust in policing and improve reporting of gender-based crimes.
Alongside the inauguration, he reviewed existing women’s safety initiatives such as Pink Booths and the ‘Sashakti’ drive, which are designed to enhance visibility, responsiveness, and accessibility of police services for women in public spaces.
Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor also participated in a national seminar on artificial intelligence for governance, where he emphasised the importance of developing technology systems aligned with India’s linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic diversity. He noted that such innovations must strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust while improving service delivery across governance systems.
