Dehradun Parking Dispute Turns Violent, Man Flashes Pistol; 3 Arrested

Parking dispute escalates into violence in Dehradun, pistol recovered.

A dispute over parking escalated into a violent confrontation in the Prem Nagar area of Dehradun late Friday night, with two groups allegedly engaging in a physical fight. Police said one of the men involved displayed a licensed pistol during the altercation, reportedly to intimidate another person. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing people arguing over a vehicle parked on the road before the situation turned violent.

According to police, the confrontation began after an argument over a vehicle and demands to move it. The disagreement quickly escalated, with people from both sides allegedly attacking each other with sticks in the middle of the road. The incident caused a brief disruption in the area and was later brought to the attention of the Prem Nagar police.

Police said three people involved in the altercation were arrested following the incident. Cases have been registered against the accused, with authorities saying action was taken against people from both sides of the dispute. Prem Nagar police station in-charge Naresh Rathore said immediate action was initiated after the incident and that investigators are examining the circumstances and individual roles.

The licensed pistol allegedly displayed during the confrontation was also recovered by police. Along with the firearm, officers seized a stick and a Fortuner vehicle linked to the incident. Authorities are preparing a report seeking cancellation of the arms licence of the person who allegedly displayed the pistol during the dispute.

The incident has prompted police to reiterate their warning against violence and aggressive behaviour in public places. Officials said maintaining law and order remains a priority and that people involved in public disturbances or violent confrontations could face legal consequences. Police action followed the emergence of the video, which showed how a dispute that began over parking escalated into a physical confrontation.

Investigators are continuing to examine the available evidence, including the video of the incident, to establish the exact sequence of events and the roles played by those involved. Police said further action will depend on the findings of the investigation. The case highlights how a minor disagreement over parking can quickly escalate into a serious public-order incident when violence and the display of a firearm become involved.
