Child Found Dead In Under-Construction Mall In Ghaziabad, Police Probe Underway

Police investigate girl's death at Ghaziabad mall site.

A seven-year-old girl was found dead inside the basement of an under-construction mall in Ghaziabad's Raj Nagar Extension area on Saturday, leading to widespread shock and anger among local residents. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Nandgram police station, where authorities have registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the victim's family. Police have detained several suspects and are questioning them as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to the girl's family, her body was found with serious head injuries and multiple fractures inside the basement of the construction site. The child had reportedly been missing since Friday evening, after which family members began searching for her. Police officials said the exact sequence of events leading to her death has not yet been established and investigators are examining all possible angles.

The police are investigating the possibility that the girl may have been thrown from the third floor of the under-construction structure, though officials have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim's maternal uncle alleged that the child may have been sexually assaulted, but police said no such conclusion has been reached so far. Authorities are waiting for post-mortem and forensic examination reports to determine the cause and manner of death.

The girl's parents work as labourers at the same construction site and were living in a temporary shelter on the premises. Following the discovery of the body, tensions rose in the area, with some local residents reportedly attempting to attack a security guard deployed at the site. Police increased security arrangements to prevent any disturbance and maintain law and order in the locality.

DCP Rural Surendra Nath Tiwari said police received information around 1 am on July 11 about a young girl's body being found inside the under-construction mall. A police team from Nandgram police station immediately reached the spot, while senior officers supervised the investigation. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team examined the scene and collected evidence as part of the probe.

ACP Nandgram Priyashree Pal said the police acted promptly after receiving information, registered an FIR based on the family's complaint and detained several individuals for questioning. The investigation remains underway, with authorities relying on forensic findings and the post-mortem report to establish the facts of the case and determine responsibility.
