Bihar Man Marries Three Women in Three Years, Lands in Jail for Dowry Harassment

Bihar man arrested for marrying three women in three years while allegedly harassing them for dowry.

Pintu Barnwal, a resident of Gopalganj district in Bihar, was arrested on charges of marrying three women over three years without divorcing his previous wives. The arrest followed complaints from his first two wives, who accused him of domestic violence and demanding dowry.

Barnwal denied all allegations, claiming the accusations were false and motivated. He admitted to marrying three women but insisted his decisions were driven by household circumstances, particularly the care of his elderly mother. He also alleged that his first wife, Khushboo, had violent intentions toward him and his family.

Khushboo Kumari, Barnwal’s first wife, accused him and his family of dowry harassment, repeated physical abuse, and abandonment. She stated that her family had given substantial gifts, including cash, jewellery, and household items, at the time of marriage, but she was still subjected to torture and later thrown out of the house.

The second wife, Gudiya Kumari, alleged she was deceived into marriage and abandoned after Barnwal married a third woman without informing her or obtaining a divorce. She claimed Barnwal’s family repeatedly demanded money and jewellery from each bride, and that Barnwal had a history of marrying women for financial gain.

Barnwal’s third wife reportedly resides with him, while his first and second wives are demanding legal action. Both Khushboo and Gudiya emphasized that they want justice and punishment for Barnwal’s alleged crimes, highlighting a pattern of exploitation and abuse spanning multiple marriages.

The case is under judicial scrutiny, and law enforcement officials have sent Barnwal to jail following his arrest. Authorities continue to investigate the allegations, including dowry harassment and domestic violence, as the community and victims await legal resolution.
