Telangana Woman Dies After Brutal Assault by Husband Over Dowry Dispute
Telangana woman beaten to death over alleged dowry demands.
A 22-year-old woman named Anusha has died after a savage assault by her husband, Paramesh Kumar (28), in Saipuri village, Tandur mandal of Telangana's Vikarabad district. The incident, occurring on December 18, 2025, was captured on CCTV footage that surfaced online, prompting widespread outrage. The couple, who entered a love marriage eight months ago, reportedly faced frequent disputes over additional dowry demands from Kumar and his family despite initial parental consent.
Two days prior to the fatal attack, Anusha had returned to her parents' home in Karanokota village following another argument and physical abuse. Kumar fetched her back after assurances of better treatment and medical care for prior injuries. However, tensions escalated immediately upon their return, leading to the violent confrontation outside their residence.
CCTV footage depicts the couple arriving on a motorcycle, with Anusha limping away toward her parents' direction. Kumar grabs her jacket, yanks her back, and shoves her toward the bike. After obtaining a key from a neighbor, he drags her by the neck and arm to unlock the door. When Anusha discards the key, Kumar slaps her repeatedly, kicks her stomach, seizes a wooden log, and strikes her head six times despite a neighbor's intervention.

Anusha sustained critical head injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Tandur, where she succumbed during treatment. Kumar and his parents fled the scene post-incident. Anusha's brother lodged a formal complaint demanding stringent action against the accused and his mother.
Vikarabad police have registered a case under relevant sections for murder and dowry harassment, with investigations underway including analysis of the viral CCTV evidence. The tragedy underscores persistent dowry-related violence even in love marriages.
