Bhopal Horror: Man Hammered Mercilessly While Crowd Films Instead of Intervening

Shocking daylight attack in Bhopal leaves man critically injured as bystanders record brutality without helping.

In a shocking incident of public brutality,  Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Rewa district, was ambushed and dragged from his car in broad daylight in Bhopal on Sunday around 11:00 am. Attackers blocked his vehicle using two cars, pulled him out, and unleashed a ferocious assault, smashing his hands and feet with hammers and crowbars before targeting his body and head. Kuldeep collapsed unconscious, yet the assailants allegedly continued the beating even after he stopped moving. His car was also vandalized before the attackers fled the scene.

What has horrified viewers is the inaction of bystanders—numerous people filmed the attack on their phones but did nothing to stop it or help the victim. Viral social media videos show one young woman confronting the assailants, while others stood by as passive spectators. Kuldeep was later rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is reported as critical with severe injuries to his limbs and head.

Bhopal police have registered an FIR against unidentified assailants and launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the perpetrators, who remain at large. Authorities have coordinated with Rewa police, suspecting the attack stems from old criminal rivalries or enmity. A senior officer described the assault as clearly planned given its targeted and prolonged nature, with promises of imminent arrests.

Police revealed that Kuldeep Singh is a known history-sheeter with 12 criminal cases registered against him in Rewa and Jabalpur districts. The charges include murder, assault, extortion, rioting, and illegal weapons possession. He had been recently released on bail and had traveled to Bhopal on Friday to meet his fiancée, a dentist based in the Kolar area’s Netaji Hills.

The incident has triggered widespread condemnation online, raising serious questions about public apathy and bystander syndrome during violent crimes in broad daylight.
