A 45-year-old mechanic, Rasheed Pasha, was brutally beaten to death in front of his young children in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden area on Sunday night, officials said. The incident occurred near Bada Makan Road around 9 pm when three men allegedly assaulted Pasha with a bat and bamboo sticks after he refused to pay an extortion demand. Preliminary investigations indicate that Pasha worked as a jeep mechanic and had recently started constructing a shop in the vicinity. On the day of the attack, he had installed moulding work at the new shop. Authorities said the accused noticed the construction and demanded Rs 50,000 as “mamool,” or protection money, which Pasha reportedly refused, leading to a heated confrontation.
Police sources said the confrontation initially began earlier in the day when the group approached Pasha with their demand. Later that evening, the men returned and allegedly renewed their threats. When Pasha continued to refuse payment, they attacked him violently in front of his two children, leaving him severely injured before fleeing the scene.
