Woman And Lover Kill Husband, Stage it as Hear Attack, Arrested

Police say a Karnataka woman and her lover smothered her husband and tried to stage the death as a heart attack.

A shocking murder case has emerged from Dasarahalli village in Tumakuru district, where a woman and her lover allegedly suffocated her husband with a pillow and attempted to stage the death as a natural heart attack. The incident came to light after the victim's sudden demise was initially accepted as cardiac-related, but a post-mortem examination revealed clear signs of suffocation, prompting police to register a murder case. The accused have been arrested following investigations that exposed the conspiracy driven by the extramarital relationship.

According to police reports, the husband died at his home under suspicious circumstances, with the wife claiming he had suffered a heart attack. Family members and authorities grew doubtful due to inconsistencies, leading to an autopsy that confirmed asphyxiation as the cause of death. The woman and her lover reportedly planned the killing together, using a pillow to smother the victim while he slept, ensuring no visible external injuries that might immediately raise alarms. The staging aimed to avoid suspicion and allow the perpetrators to continue their relationship without interference.

The breakthrough in the case occurred after the wife remarried her lover shortly after the husband's death, which heightened suspicions among locals and relatives. Police interrogated the suspects, who confessed to the crime during questioning. The motive appears linked to the illicit affair, with the duo seeking to eliminate the husband permanently. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victim or accused to protect ongoing proceedings, but the case falls under the jurisdiction of Hebbur police station.

This incident highlights recurring patterns in domestic crime cases across Karnataka, where attempts to disguise homicides as natural deaths or accidents frequently unravel through forensic evidence and post-death behavior. Similar cases in the state have involved staging mechanisms like road accidents or apparent suicides, but suffocation via pillow remains a common method in smothering murders due to its perceived subtlety. The Tumakuru police emphasized the role of timely autopsy and community vigilance in cracking such deceptions.

The arrests have brought closure to what could have remained an unresolved "natural" death, underscoring the importance of thorough investigations in sudden fatalities involving personal relationships. As legal proceedings advance, the case serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of extramarital affairs turning violent and the challenges faced by law enforcement in distinguishing foul play from genuine medical events in rural settings. Authorities continue to gather evidence, including witness statements, to build a strong prosecution file.
