Bengali YouTuber, Son Held for Raping Minor Assistant
YouTuber Arabinda Mandal and his son were arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a 15-year-old girl in West Bengal.
In a shocking case from West Bengal, popular Bengali YouTuber Arabinda Mandal and his teenage son have been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl who worked as their assistant. The arrests came after the survivor’s parents filed a complaint, alleging the duo had secretly filmed her while she was changing clothes and later used the footage to blackmail and assault her.
According to officials, the video creator — who has lakhs of followers online — had involved the Class 9 student in his short film projects and reels over the past several months. The girl’s family said they trusted the 42-year-old YouTuber, who lived near their home, and had no suspicion until their daughter broke down a few days ago and revealed the abuse.
The complaint states that Mandal and his son recorded the video without her consent, then threatened to release it unless she complied with their demands. The sexual assault allegedly took place at Mandal’s residence.

Superintendent of Police (Basirhat) Hossain Mehedi Rahaman confirmed that Mandal has been remanded to three-day police custody by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate’s Court. His teenage son was produced before a juvenile court and sent to a juvenile home. A medical examination of the survivor has been completed, authorities said.
An FIR has been registered under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
