Amritsar Schools Shut Down After Wave of Bomb Threat Emails

Multiple schools in Amritsar evacuated after receiving bomb threat emails; police conduct checks.

Multiple schools in Amritsar were thrown into chaos on Friday after receiving bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuation of students and staff. The sudden alerts created widespread panic among parents, many of whom rushed to campuses to retrieve their children. Authorities responded swiftly, treating every message as a serious threat amidst rising concerns over school safety.

District officials ordered the closure of all schools across urban and rural Amritsar as a precautionary measure. Police teams, accompanied by bomb disposal squads, launched intensive anti-sabotage inspections at each affected institution. Senior officials emphasized that response protocols were activated without delay to ensure maximum security.

Amritsar Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that a suspicious email had been received by multiple schools across the district. He stated that Gazetted Officers were deployed at every site to supervise security checks, while the Cyber Police Station began tracing the source of the threatening messages “on a war footing.” Bhullar urged the public to remain calm, noting that the police were fully equipped to handle the situation.

Authorities also revealed that similar incidents in the past were often linked to students engaging in deliberate mischief. One such case involved a DAV Public School student who was detained for sending a hoax threat to his institution. He was released after submitting a written apology along with his parents, highlighting a growing trend of digitally-driven pranks with dangerous implications.

Despite the earlier instances being false alarms, officials stressed that every threat must be treated with utmost seriousness. Friday’s events have reignited discussions about cybersecurity awareness among students and the need for stricter digital monitoring in schools. As police continue to investigate the latest wave of emails, the administration has reassured parents that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their children’s safety.
