9 Killed In Two Separate Road Accidents on Telangana's NH-65

Nine people were killed and several others seriously injured in two separate road accidents on National Highway-65 in Telangana's Sangareddy district on Tuesday night. The crashes occurred at different locations along the highway, with police and emergency teams responding to both incidents. The accidents involved a passenger auto-rickshaw, a tanker truck and multiple other vehicles, leaving several families affected.

The first and more serious accident occurred near Satwar village in Mogudampally mandal when a speeding tanker truck reportedly rammed into a passenger auto-rickshaw that was taking a U-turn. The auto was carrying around 12 daily-wage workers from Rajagiri in neighbouring Karnataka's Bidar district. They had travelled to Zaheerabad in Telangana for work and were returning home when the collision took place.

Six women and the auto-rickshaw driver were killed in the crash, while several other passengers sustained serious injuries. The deceased included women identified as Rekha, Sridevi, Kavitha and Reshma, along with auto driver Devadas. The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, with police officials indicating that the condition of some of those hurt in the accident was critical.

The second accident occurred later on NH-65 near Kaveli in Kohir mandal. According to preliminary information, a car hit the highway median before colliding with vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. Two people were killed in the crash, while several others were injured. At least four vehicles were damaged in the collision, adding to the disruption on the highway as emergency teams and police personnel reached the scene.

Police teams responded to both accident sites and arranged for the injured to be transported to hospitals for treatment. Authorities have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the crashes, including the sequence of events, the speed of the vehicles involved and whether any traffic violations contributed to either accident. The incidents occurred within a short period of each other, causing concern among residents and commuters along the busy highway.

The back-to-back crashes have highlighted the dangers faced by commuters and daily-wage workers travelling on NH-65, particularly where heavy vehicles and passenger traffic share the highway. Police are continuing to collect information from witnesses and examine the circumstances of both collisions. Further details about the identities of all victims and the condition of those injured are expected as the investigation and medical treatment continue.
