26-Year-Old Indian-Origin Man Stabbed To Death In West London

Indian-origin man from Punjab killed in stabbing incident in West London.

A 26-year-old Indian-origin man from Punjab was stabbed to death in West London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police. The victim, identified as Gurbhej Singh, was found with fatal injuries on North Road near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane in Southall, an area with a significant Indian-origin population. Despite immediate medical attention from paramedics, he was declared dead at the scene.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called at 12:41 am on June 10 following reports of a stabbing. Emergency services arrived at the location and found two men injured in the incident. One of them, Gurbhej Singh, had suffered a severe knife wound and could not be saved, while the second man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital and later discharged after treatment.

Police said seven men, aged between their early 20s and late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Following initial investigations, six of those arrested were released without further action, while one individual has been bailed as inquiries continue. Detectives have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack and are continuing to gather evidence.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said homicide investigators were working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing. She confirmed that officers believe the assault took place outside a shop in the area shortly before midnight and appealed for witnesses, CCTV footage, or any information that could assist the investigation.

The victim, originally from Tarn Taran district in Punjab, had moved to the United Kingdom in 2022 after completing his schooling. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. A fundraising campaign has also been launched to help repatriate his body to India, while relatives have appealed for assistance from Indian authorities to bring his remains home.

The killing has added to ongoing concerns about knife crime in parts of the United Kingdom, where authorities continue to grapple with violent incidents involving young men. Community leaders in Southall have urged calm as investigations continue, while police have increased appeals for public cooperation to help identify those responsible for the fatal attack.
