Court Remands Retired Judge And Son In Custody In Twisha Sharma Death Case
Court sends retired judge and son to judicial remand in Twisha case.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Bhopal on Tuesday sent retired district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh to judicial remand till June 16 in connection with the death case of actor-model Twisha Sharma. The order came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the court that it did not require further custodial interrogation of the two accused, following the completion of their five-day custody period. Based on this submission, the court directed that both be shifted to judicial custody and issued necessary jail warrants. Authorities also instructed jail officials to ensure that the accused are lodged separately from other inmates at Bhopal Central Jail for security reasons.
According to advocate Ankur Pandey, who represents Twisha Sharma’s family, the court proceedings concluded after detailed submissions from both sides. The CBI, which is probing the case, had earlier taken the accused into custody for interrogation after serious allegations were raised by the victim’s family, including claims of dowry harassment and possible foul play in the death.
During the hearing, Giribala Singh reportedly made allegations in court, claiming that an advocate associated with the victim’s family had assaulted her son Samarth Singh inside the Jabalpur court premises. She also stated that her son’s life was under threat and requested protective measures from the court. Additionally, she objected to what she described as a “media trial,” urging the court to restrain coverage that could influence public perception of the case.

Responding to these claims, counsel for Twisha Sharma’s family, Anurag Srivastava, urged the court to verify the allegations by examining CCTV footage from the court premises. The court noted the submissions during the hearing but did not issue any immediate directions on the allegations raised.
The case pertains to the death of Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old former model and actor from Noida, who was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. While the initial report suggested suicide, her family has alleged dowry harassment and murder, prompting a CBI investigation. The matter gained further attention after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh, citing material evidence placed before it during the probe.
