Gautam Adani Thanks Those Who Stood By Him Through Tough Times

US court dismisses fraud charges against Gautam Adani and associates.

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Tuesday thanked supporters who stood by him during a challenging period after a US court dismissed criminal charges against him and others in a case involving alleged securities and wire fraud. Adani welcomed the court's decision with what the group described as "humility and deep respect for the judicial process." He also invoked the blessings of God and his parents while expressing gratitude to those who continued to have faith in him.

In a post shared by the Adani Group on X, the industrialist thanked people who remained supportive during the legal proceedings. Adani said his faith in truth, fairness and the rule of law had remained unwavering throughout the difficult period. He also expressed gratitude to those who continued to trust the legal system and India's capacity for justice. His comments came after the US court's decision brought the criminal proceedings against him and the other accused to an end.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York dismissed the criminal charges against Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and their associate Vneet Jaain. The case had involved allegations related to securities and wire fraud. The dismissal marked a significant development in the long-running legal matter involving the Adani executives. The company has maintained its position throughout the proceedings and welcomed the latest decision.

Separately, a settlement was finalised between the Adanis and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in connection with civil securities fraud allegations. Under the settlement, the Adanis will pay $18 million to the US government and formally resolve the civil securities-related charges. The development is separate from the dismissal of the criminal charges. The legal proceedings had attracted significant attention because of their potential implications for the Adani Group and its senior executives.

The case also saw developments last month when the US Department of Justice told a federal court that investors had suffered no financial losses in the securities at the centre of the prosecution. The department argued that the absence of investor losses further weakened the government's case and supported its decision to seek dismissal of the criminal charges. The filing stated that no money had been lost on the securities involved in the case.

Following the court's decision, Adani said the group would remain focused on its broader business and national commitments. "We will continue doing what matters: building for our nation, creating value that outlasts us and serving a purpose larger than ourselves," he said. The dismissal of the criminal charges and the separate civil settlement represent important developments in the legal proceedings involving the Adani executives, while the group has reiterated its intention to focus on its businesses and long-term objectives.
