The Strange Story of a CRPF Jawan and His Pakistani Wife on an Expired Visa
CRPF Sacks Jawan for Concealing Marriage to Pakistani Woman
Amongst the various strange stories doing the rounds, here is yet another!
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has dismissed jawan Munir Ahmed for concealing his marriage to Pakistani national Menal Khan and harboring her in India beyond her visa’s validity, actions deemed a “grave misconduct” and threat to national security.
Wait, what? Yes, the CRPF has only now identified that a Jawan is married to a Pakistani!

Ahmed, previously with the 41st battalion, was sacked with immediate effect on Friday under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution, bypassing a formal inquiry, CRPF officials confirmed.
The issue surfaced amid India’s expulsion of Pakistani nationals following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians.
Ahmed married Khan via video call on May 24, 2024, but only informed the CRPF on October 14, failing to seek prior approval as required. Khan entered India on February 28, 2025, through the Wagah-Attari border on a short-term visa, valid until March 22. She overstayed, residing at Ahmed’s Jammu home, with Ahmed not reporting her status to authorities.
CRPF spokesperson DIG M Dhinakaran stated that Ahmed’s actions violated service conduct and compromised state security. Khan’s deportation was stayed by a court recently.
The dismissal underscores India’s heightened security measures post-Pahalgam, including trade bans and border closures, as tensions with Pakistan escalate over alleged terror links. Ahmed’s case highlights stringent enforcement of protocols for CRPF personnel, with the force emphasizing zero tolerance for breaches endangering national interests. But the question remains, what on earth was the CRPF doing allowing Jawans to marry Pakistanis?
