Second Aviation Incident Strikes Baramati as Training Aircraft Makes Emergency Crash Landing

Training aircraft crashes near Baramati; no injuries were reported.

A training aircraft belonging to an aviation academy crashed near Gojubavi Village in Baramati on Wednesday morning after reportedly suffering a technical malfunction shortly after take-off. The incident occurred just months after a separate plane accident in Baramati in which former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was killed. Police officials said there were no casualties reported in the latest crash, though the aircraft sustained damage during the emergency landing.

According to Baramati police, the aircraft had taken off from Baramati Airport as part of a training exercise conducted by the Redbird Aviation training academy. Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said the aircraft made a crash landing around 8:50 am near Gojubavi village, which is located adjacent to the airport premises. Preliminary accounts from eyewitnesses indicated that the aircraft was flying at a relatively low altitude when it developed a technical problem moments after take-off.

Officials said the pilot attempted an emergency landing after detecting the malfunction. During the process, one side of the aircraft allegedly struck a light pole before the aircraft hit the ground in an open field. Visuals from the crash site showed portions of the aircraft damaged, while local authorities and emergency personnel quickly reached the area to secure the site and begin an investigation into the incident. Shivaji Taware, Director of Baramati Airport, confirmed the crash and said officials were assessing the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The incident has once again drawn attention to aviation safety concerns in the region following the earlier Baramati plane tragedy involving Ajit Pawar. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed technical inspection of the aircraft and review operational procedures followed by the training academy. Police and aviation officials said a formal inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the malfunction and whether mechanical failure or operational issues contributed to the crash landing.
