Reliance and Jio Commit ₹10 Lakh Crore to Power India's AI Revolution

Mukesh Ambani announces massive AI investment to transform India into a global intelligence powerhouse.

Reliance Industries Limited and its digital arm Jio will invest ₹10 lakh crore over the next seven years to drive India’s artificial intelligence transformation, Mukesh Ambani announced at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Ambani described the investment as long-term, disciplined, and nation-focused, emphasizing that it aims to create durable economic value and strategic resilience.

Ambani outlined a three-part strategy to transition India from the internet era to the “intelligence era.” Jio will expand its role beyond connectivity to deliver intelligence across sectors, from government services and social development to agriculture and industry, ensuring AI benefits reach every citizen.

The investment will support India’s sovereign computing infrastructure through three initiatives: multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, integration of up to 10 gigawatts of green energy from solar projects in Kutch and Andhra Pradesh, and a nationwide edge computing network for low-latency AI services. Construction of the first data centres is already underway, with 120 MW expected online in the latter half of 2026.

Ambani emphasized that India must develop domestic AI capabilities, reducing the cost of intelligence as dramatically as mobile data costs were lowered. He stressed that Jio’s AI systems will focus on deep-tech leadership, advanced manufacturing, and broad-based inclusion, aiming to benefit not only large enterprises but also farmers, artisans, and the informal sector.

In a major move for linguistic inclusion, Ambani unveiled “Jio AI Bharat,” a multilingual AI platform enabling citizens to interact with AI in their mother tongues. He reassured that AI would create employment and high-skilled opportunities, not eliminate jobs, and highlighted plans to collaborate with global technology firms to strengthen India’s AI ecosystem.

Highlighting India’s digital achievements, Ambani noted the country’s billion-strong internet user base and global-scale platforms like Aadhaar and UPI. “India will emerge as one of the greatest AI powers in the 21st century,” he said, citing the nation’s advantages in demography, democracy, and data generation.
