Priya Kapur Seeks Dismissal of Suit: Accuses Rani Kapur of Cheating Court
Priya Kapur accuses Rani Kapur of perjury and seeks dismissal of civil suit in Delhi High Court
A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing Kapur family dispute over an estimated Rs 30,000 crore fortune, with proceedings unfolding in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. The latest development comes after the court earlier remarked on the family “washing dirty linen in public,” underscoring the increasingly acrimonious nature of the legal battle.
Businessman Sunjay Kapur’s third wife, Priya Kapur, who was married to him at the time of his death in June last year, has accused her mother-in-law, Rani Kapur, of perjury. Priya Kapur has alleged that Rani Kapur misled the court by providing false statements and concealing material facts in connection with the civil suit tied to the family’s assets.
In her application before the High Court, Priya Kapur sought dismissal of the civil suit, arguing that it constitutes a “gross abuse of process.” She contended that the case was built on incorrect representations and that the court had been misled. The application further alleged that Rani Kapur engaged in deliberate suppression of key information relevant to the dispute.

The legal fight centers on the division and control of a vast business empire and associated assets, reportedly valued at around Rs 30,000 crore. Since Sunjay Kapur’s death, disagreements over inheritance, ownership stakes, and management rights have escalated into multiple court proceedings, bringing private family matters into the public domain.
The Delhi High Court is now examining the fresh application and the allegations raised by Priya Kapur. The outcome of the proceedings could significantly influence the trajectory of the broader inheritance dispute, as both sides continue to press their claims in what has become one of the most closely watched family legal battles in recent times.
