PM Modi Announces Australia-Canada-India Technology Partnership at G20 Summit

Australia-Canada-India Technology & Innovation partnership revealed at G20 Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a groundbreaking trilateral initiative called the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership during a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. The partnership aims to deepen collaboration among the three democratic nations across three continents and oceans, focusing on emerging technologies, supply chain diversification, clean energy, and the mass adoption of artificial intelligence.

Modi expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential, emphasizing the importance of working together to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for coming generations. The ACITI initiative reflects a united effort to strengthen technological ties and innovation frameworks while ensuring resilient global supply networks and accelerating energy transition goals.

In addition to the trilateral partnership, Modi met separately with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Modi described his meeting with Starmer as wonderful and constructive, noting increased momentum in India-UK cooperation across multiple domains. His conversation with Guterres was described as very productive, focusing on global challenges and development cooperation.

Addressing the opening session of the G20 leaders’ meeting, Modi called for a rethinking of global development models and proposed establishing a G20 initiative aimed at combating the drug-terror nexus and forming a global healthcare response team. These proposals mark India’s continued commitment to championing inclusive growth, global security, and health preparedness on the international stage.

This trilateral partnership announcement is part of a broader agenda pursued by India during its engagement at the G20, positioning it as a key player in fostering democratic cooperation, innovation, and sustainable development in the geopolitical landscape.
