Maruti Suzuki posts 12% sales growth in January with Victoris SUV driving market share to 19% in mid-size segment.

Maruti Suzuki reported robust sales growth in January 2026, with total vehicle sales rising 12% year-on-year to 2.37 lakh units, surpassing market estimates of 2.22 lakh units. The company also saw a 25% increase in bookings compared with January 2025, signaling strong consumer demand across its portfolio.

The company currently has 1.75 lakh pending bookings, with 1.3 lakh under the 18% GST category, including popular models such as Alto, WagonR, and Celerio. Dealers reported holding inventory for only three days, highlighting the high pace of sales.

Maruti Suzuki’s mid-size SUV Victoris has emerged as a standout performer, surpassing cumulative sales of 50,000 units since launch. The mid-size SUV segment, priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, has seen increased competition from models like Tata Sierra, Mahindra Thar, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. Maruti Suzuki’s Victoris has helped the company boost its segment share from 12% to 19%, with average monthly volumes doubling to over 21,000 units between October 2025 and January 2026.

To further strengthen customer engagement, Maruti Suzuki announced a loyalty upgrade programme for existing owners of the Grand Vitara, Victoris, and Invicto. The scheme will offer benefits such as direct price reductions, additional accessories, or a combination of both, aiming to drive repeat sales and brand loyalty.

Management highlighted that strong demand for Victoris, combined with ongoing consumer confidence, positions Maruti Suzuki to maintain its leadership in the mid-size SUV segment while sustaining overall sales momentum in 2026.
