Marco Rubio Declares US-India Partnership Historic on Republic Day

Rubio praises the historic US-India partnership on Republic Day.

The United States extended warm Republic Day greetings to India on January 26, highlighting the historic and strategic nature of bilateral ties. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the partnership as “broad, longstanding, and crucial to regional peace and addressing global challenges.”

Rubio said, “On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of India on your Republic Day,” noting the shared commitment to advancing cooperation in defense, energy, critical minerals, and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the importance of broader engagement through the Quad framework.

“The United States and India share a historic bond,” Rubio stated, adding that the relationship brings tangible benefits to both countries and the Indo-Pacific region. He expressed optimism about building on the current momentum to advance shared objectives in the year ahead.

India observes Republic Day annually on January 26 to commemorate the adoption of its Constitution in 1950, marking its transition into a fully sovereign democratic republic. Over the past two decades, US-India relations have strengthened across multiple domains, including defense, trade, technology, and people-to-people exchanges, positioning the partnership as a cornerstone of stability, economic growth, and innovation in the Indo-Pacific.
