Made-In-India C295 Reportedly Rolled Out At Tata-Airbus Vadodara Facility
India’s first Made-in-India C295 reportedly rolled out from Tata-Airbus Vadodara plant.
Reports indicate that India’s first locally assembled Airbus C295 military transport aircraft may have rolled out from the Tata Advanced Systems Limited final assembly line in Vadodara, marking a potential milestone for the country’s defence manufacturing ambitions under the “Make in India” initiative. According to circulating reports and a viral video on social media, the C295 aircraft was recently rolled out from the Vadodara facility operated by Tata Advanced Systems. However, there has been no official confirmation from either Airbus or Tata Advanced Systems regarding the rollout at the time of reporting.
The C295 programme is part of a major defence agreement signed in 2021 between India and Spain for the procurement of 56 military transport aircraft, valued at approximately ₹21,935 crore. Under the agreement, 16 aircraft are being supplied in fully assembled fly-away condition from Airbus’s production facility in Seville, Spain. The remaining 40 aircraft are planned to be manufactured and assembled in India at the Vadodara plant. The project is considered one of the most significant examples of collaboration between India’s private sector and global aerospace manufacturers in the military aviation segment.
The reported rollout, if officially confirmed, would represent a key step in India’s efforts to build domestic aerospace manufacturing capacity. The C295 aircraft is designed for tactical transport operations, including troop movement, cargo delivery, and humanitarian missions, and is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force. While early reports suggest that a formal rollout event may be organised, possibly attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials have not issued any confirmation regarding the ceremony or timeline. The lack of official communication has left the development in the category of unverified reports for now.

Despite the uncertainty, the development has drawn attention as a symbolic achievement for India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, which has been increasingly focused on reducing import dependence and strengthening indigenous production capabilities through partnerships with global aerospace companies. Further clarity is expected once official statements are released by the stakeholders involved in the programme.
