PM Modi Kicks Off India AI Impact Summit With Global Leaders In Delhi

PM Modi opens global AI summit in Delhi; agenda spans governance, investment and inclusive tech.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 continued on its fourth day at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate the summit’s formal proceedings and deliver a keynote address as global leaders and technology chiefs gather for high-level discussions.

Early Thursday morning, PM Modi formally opened the summit’s Day 4 ceremonies, set to speak at approximately 9:40 am IST, with his keynote address planned around 10:25 am. The opening session will feature addresses by international figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, underlining the event’s focus on AI governance, ethics, and global cooperation.

Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister is expected to tour the India AI Impact Expo 2026, visiting exhibitor pavilions showcasing artificial intelligence applications from around the world before attending the Leaders’ Plenary session around noon. This segment brings together heads of state, ministers and institutional representatives to discuss shared priorities in AI policy, infrastructure, and international frameworks.

In the evening, PM Modi is scheduled to take part in a CEO Roundtable with senior executives from global technology firms, focusing on investment, research collaboration, supply chain issues and wider deployment of AI systems across sectors.

The summit, which runs through February 20, has seen participation from major industry leaders and governments, reflecting India’s push to shape international AI norms and promote innovation from the Global South. However, logistical challenges at earlier days — including restricted venue access for delegates due to VIP protocols, extended expo hours and operational criticisms — have prompted public apologies from organisers and visible efforts to address attendee concerns.

Tech executives and heads of state are also emphasizing the need for collaboration on AI’s societal and economic impacts, with discussions ranging from inclusive AI adoption to ethical standards and global cooperation frameworks.
