Foreigner Lauds Vande Bharat Sleeper Train in Viral Review From Inaugural Run

Foreign content creator Anusha hails Vande Bharat sleeper's comfort and cleanliness on debut Guwahati-Kolkata journey.

A foreign traveller has gone viral on social media after sharing her experience aboard the inaugural run of the Vande Bharat sleeper train between Kamakhya and Howrah, praising its comfort, cleanliness, and modern design. The new service, launched by Indian Railways earlier this week, marks the first commercial operation of the Vande Bharat sleeper variant aimed at overnight journeys.

In a widely shared Instagram video titled “Foreigner POV: Vande Bharat sleeper train”, travel content creator Anusha documented her journey on the opening day of the service from Guwahati to Kolkata. In the clip, she highlighted the train’s premium exterior, automatic glass doors, and overall modern appearance, noting that it felt unlike a typical long-distance train experience in India.

Commenting on the interiors, Anusha praised the bright, well-lit coaches, comfortable seating, and quality of onboard food. She said the sleeper train felt closer to international standards and added that if the Vande Bharat sleeper represents the future of rail travel in India, she was “honestly impressed.” Her post quickly gained traction, drawing attention from both Indian and international viewers.

As of the latest update, the video had crossed 110,000 views, with social media users applauding the traveller for showcasing a positive side of Indian infrastructure. Many commenters compared the train to European rail services, while others stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and civic discipline to preserve the quality of the service in the long run.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train was inaugurated last week by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has received a largely positive response from passengers. The Kamakhya–Howrah route is expected to significantly improve overnight connectivity between the Northeast and eastern India, offering faster travel times, enhanced comfort, and a world-class rail experience for long-distance travellers.
