British Digital Creator Shares Experience Of Her First Ladakh Trip

British creator shares her unforgettable first Ladakh experience.

A British digital content creator has shared her experience of visiting Ladakh for the first time, describing her seven-day journey as an unforgettable experience filled with travel, nature, adventure and self-reflection. Deanna, who runs the travel and culture Instagram account @sociallywanderful, has been travelling across India in recent weeks. Her journey began in Delhi before taking her to Mussoorie, Ladakh and, more recently, parts of northeast India.

During her Ladakh trip, Deanna travelled with a group and explored several locations across the region. She documented the journey through videos and social media posts, sharing her experiences with her followers. She said the trip gave her an opportunity to create new memories, meet people and spend time reflecting on herself, adding that she had not expected Ladakh to become such a meaningful destination for her.

Thiksey Monastery was among the places that made a particularly strong impression on her. In one of her videos, Deanna described being amazed by the monastery and its interiors, while also highlighting the views of the surrounding mountains. She said the visit was among the experiences she would remember for a long time, adding to the sense of wonder she experienced during her time in the region.

Her itinerary also included waking up around 4 am to watch the sunrise in Leh and spending about an hour at Shanti Stupa. She later visited Leh Palace and explored its architecture. Another memorable part of the journey was spending 24 hours in Rumbak village without internet or mobile network access, allowing her and her friends to spend time together in the quiet surroundings without the usual distractions of connected devices.

The trip also included activities that went beyond sightseeing. Deanna and her group participated in daily sessions focused on self-reflection and spent time discussing personal experiences. She also learnt to make momos during the journey. In the evenings, the group sang, danced and spent time together before going to sleep under the night sky, making the experience as much about companionship as it was about exploring Ladakh.

Looking back on the trip, Deanna said every moment in Ladakh felt special and that the journey helped her understand herself better. The region's mountain landscapes, peaceful villages, cultural sites and opportunities to disconnect from technology contributed to the experience. For Deanna, the combination of exploration, new friendships and personal reflection made her first visit to Ladakh a journey she said she would never forget.
