Rashami Desai Credits Walking and Travel For Her Weight Loss Journey
Rashami Desai credits walking and travel for her weight loss journey.
Actor Rashami Desai has opened up about her weight loss journey, revealing that she lost approximately 4.5 kilograms in just 25 days by combining regular walking, healthy eating, and improved mental well-being rather than relying solely on intense gym workouts. Speaking during an earlier interview with Care World TV, Desai said the experience changed her perspective on fitness, helping her realise that enjoyable and sustainable physical activities can be just as effective as conventional exercise routines.
Reflecting on the period, Desai said she had gained weight while focusing almost exclusively on work and neglecting her overall well-being. She described herself as being completely immersed in her career before deciding to step away and travel. According to the actor, taking a break from her routine provided much-needed peace of mind, which she believes played a significant role in supporting her physical and mental health during the weight-loss process.
Desai explained that while travelling for nearly one and a half months, she walked extensively every day and maintained healthy eating habits. She said many people found it difficult to believe that walking had contributed more to her weight loss than structured gym workouts. The actor noted that the experience taught her that maintaining good health does not necessarily require spending hours lifting weights, but can instead involve activities that people genuinely enjoy and can sustain over time.

Health experts generally agree that walking is one of the simplest and most accessible forms of physical activity. Regular brisk walking can help burn calories, improve cardiovascular health, enhance mood, and support gradual weight loss, especially when paired with a balanced, calorie-conscious diet. However, experts also point out that individual weight-loss results vary depending on factors such as age, metabolism, activity level, sleep quality, and overall lifestyle habits.
While walking alone can contribute to weight management, medical professionals recommend combining it with healthy nutrition, adequate hydration, strength training, and sufficient rest for long-term fitness. Resistance exercises help preserve muscle mass during weight loss, while a nutritious diet ensures the body receives essential nutrients needed for overall health. Mental well-being and stress management are also increasingly recognised as important components of sustainable weight management.
Desai's experience highlights the importance of adopting a balanced and realistic approach to fitness rather than pursuing quick fixes or unsustainable routines. Her emphasis on enjoying physical activity, maintaining healthy eating habits, and prioritising mental health reflects a growing understanding that successful weight management often depends on consistency and lifestyle changes rather than intense exercise alone.
