Deepika Padukone Makes History! First Indian Actor to Earn Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

In a groundbreaking moment for Indian cinema, Deepika Padukone has been named the first Indian actor to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining an elite group of global entertainers in the Class of 2026. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the news on Instagram Wednesday night, celebrating Padukone’s remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry.

The prestigious Walk of Fame, with over 2,700 brass stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, honors luminaries in film, television, music, radio, and live performance. Padukone’s star places her alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, and filmmakers Chris Columbus and Tony Scott.

Television icons such as Greg Daniels, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gordon Ramsay, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle also join the 2026 class. Padukone, who debuted in Bollywood with the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om, has become a trailblazer with acclaimed performances in films like Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Chhapaak.

Her Hollywood debut came in 2017 with XXX: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel, cementing her global appeal. Named among TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018 and a recipient of the TIME100 Impact Award, Padukone also made waves as a main competition jury member at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame has previously honored Indian-origin conductor Zubin Mehta in 2011 and actor Sabu Dastagir for his 1940s Hollywood roles, but Padukone’s recognition marks a historic first for an Indian actor. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce hailed the Class of 2026, stating, “We are honored to welcome you to the Walk of Fame!”

Currently, Padukone is working on a highly anticipated untitled film directed by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun, further solidifying her stature as a global icon. Fans worldwide are celebrating this milestone, which underscores her profound impact on cinema and culture, making her a beacon of pride for India on the world stage.
