Samay Raina Denies Dating Sharon Verma: ‘Just Internet Doing Its Thing’
Samay Raina denies dating rumours with comedian Sharon Verma online.
Comedian Samay Raina has denied dating rumours involving fellow comedian Sharon Verma, saying the speculation was simply the internet “doing its thing.” The rumours began after the two exchanged playful banter during an episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2. Their interaction, including jokes and frequent eye contact, prompted fans to create romantic edits and speculate about a relationship between them.
Samay addressed the speculation on Wednesday during an Instagram Ask Me Anything session. He had invited followers to send him “genuine questions only” when a fan directly asked whether he was dating Sharon. Responding to the question, Samay wrote, “No brother, just internet doing its thing.” His response appeared to directly dismiss the reports and clarify that the two are not romantically involved.
Sharon had previously appeared as a contestant on Season 1 of India’s Got Latent before returning as a panellist in Season 2. During the recent episode, she appeared alongside Orry and Archana Puran Singh. Samay and Sharon engaged in a series of jokes during the episode, with Samay referring to Sharon’s Bihari roots and Sharon responding with a joke about Samay’s Kashmiri roots.

Their exchange quickly attracted attention on social media, where viewers interpreted the playful interaction as a sign of possible romantic chemistry. Fans subsequently shared edits featuring the two comedians, adding to speculation that they might be dating. Samay’s latest response, however, makes it clear that he does not consider the online speculation to reflect an actual relationship.
The episode also generated controversy beyond the dating rumours. Some BJP leaders criticised Samay over his remarks about his Kashmiri roots and questioned whether such references were appropriate. Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam said Kashmiri Pandits should not be treated as subjects of ridicule and accused some people of making controversial statements to gain publicity.
Amid the growing discussion around the episode, Samay’s Instagram response has now put the dating speculation to rest, at least from his side. His brief comment suggested that the rumours stemmed from social media users interpreting the comedians’ on-screen banter rather than from any confirmed relationship. Neither Samay nor Sharon has publicly confirmed a romantic relationship with the other.
