Raj Nidimoru Reveals What Made Samantha Ruth Prabhu Abandon Her Plans To Quit

Raj Helps Samantha Stay In Showbiz

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is set to complete two decades in the film industry next year, has revealed that she once considered stepping away from acting after struggling with her health. The actor said her decision came during a difficult period after she was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition she publicly disclosed in 2022. During that phase, Samantha took a break from work and began exploring other interests, including entrepreneurship, while reconsidering her future in the entertainment industry.

Samantha recalled that after taking a year-long break, she began thinking about pursuing other activities and was advised to take things slowly from a health perspective. She said she took that advice seriously and started looking for projects and ventures that she genuinely believed in. The actor eventually invested in several businesses and described herself as a “serial entrepreneur”, saying she enjoyed that period of her life and found fulfilment away from the demands of acting.

Her health struggles, however, also affected her professional commitments. Samantha said she was unwell while working on Citadel and found the experience particularly difficult. She explained that she did not want an entire film set to remain idle while she dealt with her health issues because she was concerned about wasting other people’s time. As a result, she began considering a role behind the camera instead of continuing as an actor. She said she eventually produced Maa Inti Bangaaram because she wanted to remain involved in filmmaking without necessarily being in front of the camera.

Samantha said Raj Nidimoru, whom she married in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends last December, did not share her belief that she should step away from acting. According to the actor, Raj had greater faith in her abilities and encouraged her to continue moving forward with her career. She said his presence on the sets gave her confidence at a time when she was uncertain about returning to work. Samantha described his support as an important factor in changing her perspective when she had almost decided to leave the profession.

The actor also revealed that she had sent an email to the Citadel team indicating that she might not continue with the project. However, she said the team did not give up on her. Samantha also explained how she eventually became associated with Maa Inti Bangaaram. She said Sai Pallavi had declined the project, prompting Samantha to come on board. After considering the story, she felt it had enough potential to deserve a release and decided to take up the project. Her comments show how her plans changed from wanting to remain behind the scenes to continuing her work as an actor and producer.

Samantha first revealed her myositis diagnosis in 2022. The autoimmune condition can cause muscle weakness and had a significant impact on her professional life, according to her account. Her decision to take time away from acting came as she tried to prioritise her health and reassess her career. She has since continued working in the entertainment industry, with Raj’s encouragement playing a role in her decision to remain active. Her experience highlights the uncertainty she faced during her illness and how support from people around her helped her reconsider a decision she had once believed was final.
