Karuppu, Dridam, Vikalpa: South Indian OTT Releases to Watch This Weekend

South Indian OTT brings eight new releases across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

The second weekend of June has brought a fresh selection of South Indian films and series to major OTT platforms, offering viewers a mix of action, suspense, fantasy, romance and psychological thrillers. Streaming services including Prime Video, JioHotstar, Zee5, Sun NXT, ETV Win and Aha have added new titles across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The latest releases feature prominent actors such as Suriya, Trisha Krishnan and Shane Nigam, alongside a variety of emerging talent.

Among the most anticipated releases is Karuppu, a Tamil action-fantasy courtroom drama directed by RJ Balaji. The film follows a lawyer's battle against powerful interests while seeking justice through legal means. As the conflict intensifies, divine intervention in the form of Vettai Karuppu alters the course of events, blending courtroom drama with fantasy elements. The Telugu version of the film, Veerabhadradu, is also available, presenting a similar storyline adapted for Telugu-speaking audiences.

Crime-thriller fans can turn to Dridam, directed by Martin Joseph and streaming on JioHotstar. The film stars Shane Nigam as a newly appointed police officer whose seemingly routine posting is disrupted by a series of murders and a major bank robbery. As the investigation unfolds, hidden links between the crimes emerge, placing increasing pressure on the officer to uncover the truth before the situation spirals further out of control.

Viewers looking for relationship-focused storytelling can explore Sshhh Season 3 on Aha. The anthology returns with a fresh cast and new stories centred on love, identity, emotional struggles and modern relationships. Meanwhile, the Telugu romantic drama Ramani Kalyanam follows two emotionally scarred individuals who gradually find healing and companionship as fate repeatedly brings them together.

The Malayalam action-thriller Pongala offers a story inspired by real-life incidents along Kerala's Vypin-Munambam coast during the 2000s. Starring Sreenath Bhasi and Yami Sona, the film explores themes of friendship, betrayal, revenge and loss against a coastal backdrop. In contrast, Pedda Pitta takes a lighter approach, presenting a rural comedy in which villagers are thrown into panic after the appearance of a bird believed to be a messenger of death.

Completing the weekend lineup is the Kannada psychological thriller Vikalpa, directed by Pruthviraj Patil. The story follows a successful businessman whose life begins to unravel as he is haunted by disturbing visions, unresolved childhood trauma and a mysterious death. Combining psychological suspense with mystery and folklore, the film adds another dimension to a diverse weekend OTT slate that caters to audiences across multiple genres and languages.
