Tamil film industry veteran filmmaker, producer and actor K. Rajan passed away at the age of 85 on Sunday, prompting an outpouring of grief from political leaders and members of the film fraternity. His sudden demise has left colleagues and admirers shocked, with tributes highlighting his long-standing contribution to Tamil cinema.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expressed deep sorrow over Rajan’s death, describing him as a veteran personality who made significant contributions as a producer, director, actor and distributor. In an official statement shared via his CMO’s social media handle, he said Rajan’s work and influence in the industry would be remembered for years to come.

Vijay also noted that Rajan was known for speaking fearlessly on issues affecting the film industry, particularly concerning the rights of small-budget filmmakers and distributors. He acknowledged Rajan’s active role in raising concerns about industry practices and trends, adding that his voice had been an important part of cinema discourse for several decades.

She expressed sadness over the circumstances of his death and offered condolences, wishing peace for his soul.Rajan’s daughter, Rajeswari Anbalagan, has reportedly raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death, alleging that unpaid dues from the film industry had caused distress to her father.
