Mohanlal Reunites with Tharun Moorthy for Cop Drama 'L 366'
Superstar begins shooting new film L 366, playing a police officer after years.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal kicked off shooting for his highly anticipated next project, tentatively titled L 366, on Friday. The film marks a fresh collaboration with director Tharun Moorthy, riding high on the success of their previous joint venture Thudarum. Backed by Ashiq Usman Productions, the movie is scripted by Ratheesh Ravi, known for films like Pullikkaran Staraa, Ishq, Adi, and Maharani.
Reports suggest Mohanlal will portray a police officer in L 366—a role he hasn’t taken on in quite some time. Fans have already noticed a striking new look: the actor has shaved off his beard, revealing his iconic handlebar moustache for the first time since Odiyan. Mohanlal shared glimpses from the sets on social media, captioning one post with gratitude for blessings and another simply with a heart emoji, sparking excitement among followers.
The film reunites Mohanlal with actress Meera Jasmine as the female lead. This marks their on-screen pairing after memorable collaborations in Rasathanthram, Innathe Chinthavishayam, and Ladies and Gentleman. Meera also made a special cameo in Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam last year, adding extra anticipation to their chemistry in this new venture.

Tharun Moorthy has assembled a strong technical team, largely retaining the core crew from Thudarum. Cinematographer Shaji Kumar, music director Jakes Bejoy, and sound designer Vishnu Govind return, while editor Vivek Harshan joins as a new addition to the lineup. The director and Mohanlal are also planning another project together, this time produced by M Renjith, who previously backed Thudarum.
With shooting underway and early looks already generating buzz, L 366 promises to blend high-stakes drama with the signature emotional depth fans expect from this powerhouse combination of Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy.
