Toxic Day 2 Box Office Report: Yash-Starrer Collects Rs 36.40 Crore After Witnessing A 64% Drop

Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups witnessed a sharp decline in its box office earnings on the second day of its release, collecting an estimated Rs 36.40 crore nett in India on Thursday, according to Sacnilk. The Geetu Mohandas-directed film had opened with a strong Rs 101.10 crore nett on its first day, resulting in a drop of around 64 per cent in its second-day collection. Despite the substantial decline, Toxic has crossed Rs 137 crore nett in India within its first two days. The film's estimated domestic total currently stands at Rs 137.50 crore nett.

Its strong opening-day performance has given the movie a sizeable early cushion, although the sharp fall on the second day has raised questions about how well it will sustain its momentum through the remainder of its opening weekend. According to Sacnilk's early estimates, the film recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 26.6 per cent on Thursday across 19,413 shows. The occupancy figure indicates a significant reduction in audience turnout compared with the opening day. The decline in collections was particularly notable given that the film had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on its first day itself. Toxic has also recorded varying performances across its different language versions.

The film is currently performing better in Hindi than in Kannada, which is its original language. The Telugu version has also contributed substantially to the overall domestic earnings, while the Tamil and Malayalam versions have generated comparatively lower collections. The second-day performance has attracted attention because of the scale of the film's opening. A first-day collection of Rs 101.10 crore nett had established a high benchmark for the Yash-led film. Maintaining audience interest after such a large opening is important because the second and third days often provide an early indication of whether a movie's initial buzz can translate into sustained theatrical business. The film's box office performance is also being discussed in relation to Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

The language-wise performance will also remain an important factor in determining the film's overall run.

While Hindi is currently leading among the reported versions, the Telugu market has also provided meaningful support. The comparatively lower collections from Tamil and Malayalam markets could affect the film's final domestic tally depending on how its performance develops over the coming days. With Rs 137.50 crore nett estimated in India after two days, Toxic has made a strong start in terms of its cumulative collection despite the significant second-day correction. The Yash-starrer now needs stronger audience turnout over the weekend to build on its opening and establish a sustained box office trend.
