The actor recorded his heartfelt final message for the Netflix series Famous Last Words in November 2025.

Actor Eric Dane, best known for his role as Dr Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, passed away at 53 after a courageous battle with ALS. Months before his death, Dane recorded a final interview for Netflix’s Famous Last Words, in which he addressed his teenage daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14. In the interview, he shared heartfelt advice, reflecting on his life, illness, and the moments he cherished with his family. Dane’s message focused on resilience, love, and embracing life despite hardships. His passing has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a talented actor and devoted father.

In his final words, Eric told his daughters, “I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?” He recalled family trips to Santa Monica, Hawaii, and Mexico, describing those days as “heaven” and expressing gratitude for every moment spent with his girls. He emphasised the importance of living in the present and finding joy in life, urging them to embrace their passions fully. Dane’s words carried a mix of nostalgia, love, and wisdom, resonating deeply with his family and fans.

He shared four pieces of advice for his daughters, starting with living in the moment and not dwelling on regrets. Dane encouraged them to seek love, not necessarily from a partner, but through passion, friendships, and meaningful experiences. He advised choosing friends wisely and valuing those who stand by them in difficult times. Despite physical limitations from ALS, Dane expressed gratitude for the support of friends who had “stepped up” during his illness. His guidance reflected both life lessons and personal reflections shaped by his battle with the disease.
