Tom Holland Hints He Could Play Spider-Man Beyond Age 30

Tom Holland has expressed his desire to continue playing Spider-Man for as long as audiences and the studios want him in the role, signalling that his journey as Marvel's iconic web-slinger is far from over. The actor made the remarks while promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to release in theatres on July 30. Holland, who first donned the superhero suit in 2016, reflected on his decade-long association with the character and the strong bond he has built with the cast and crew over the years.

Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of the film in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland described his experience of playing Peter Parker as the "gift of my life." He said that working with the teams at Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures continues to feel special despite having portrayed the character for nearly ten years. According to the actor, the close friendships and collaborative atmosphere shared by everyone involved in the franchise make each new project feel unique, adding that every premiere still feels like his first.

When asked how long he hoped to continue portraying Spider-Man, Holland avoided giving a definitive timeline but indicated that he has no plans to step away anytime soon. "I will do it for as long as they'll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we'll see!" he said. His comments suggest that the future of his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will largely depend on audience response and the direction of future projects.

The latest remarks stand in contrast to a statement Holland made in 2021, when he told GQ that he would have "done something wrong" if he was still playing Spider-Man after turning 30. Having celebrated his 30th birthday on June 1 this year, the actor acknowledged that his perspective has changed. Looking back on the earlier quote, he explained that his intention had been to eventually pass the role on to another actor rather than continue indefinitely.

Holland revealed that discussions about Spider-Man's future are ongoing at the studio and hinted that a transition to a new actor remains part of the long-term conversation. Joking about revising his earlier statement, he said he might now change the age from 30 to 37. His comments indicate that while he remains committed to the character, he is also mindful of ensuring the franchise continues to evolve for future generations of audiences.

Tom Holland made his debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War (2016) before headlining Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
