Timothée Chalamet Makes Oscar History as Youngest Actor With Three Nominations
Timothée Chalamet becomes youngest male actor with three Oscar nominations for Best Actor at age 30.
Timothée Chalamet has etched his name into Oscar history after earning a Best Actor nomination at the 98th Academy Awards, becoming the youngest male actor ever to receive three acting nominations. The latest recognition places the 30-year-old actor among the strongest contenders of the awards season and marks a major milestone in his already illustrious career.
Chalamet received the nomination for his critically acclaimed performance as table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme. Industry experts have widely tipped him as a favourite, with the role showcasing his emotional depth and physical transformation. His previous Oscar nominations were for Call Me by Your Name and A Complete Unknown, further underscoring his consistency at the highest level.
In the Best Actor category, Chalamet faces stiff competition from Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent). The lineup reflects one of the most competitive Best Actor races in recent Academy Awards history.

Beyond Chalamet’s individual achievement, Marty Supreme emerged as a major awards-season powerhouse. The film secured multiple nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Casting, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography, solidifying its position as a top contender across categories.
Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme follows the fictional journey of Marty Mauser, a determined athlete chasing his dream of becoming a world-class table tennis champion. The film’s Oscar momentum builds on its success at the Golden Globe Awards, where Chalamet won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, becoming the youngest recipient in that category.
If Chalamet wins the Oscar, he will become the second youngest Best Actor winner in Academy Awards history, behind Adrien Brody, who won at age 29 for The Pianist. Final Oscar voting will take place from February 26 to March 5, 2026, with the awards ceremony scheduled for March 15.
