Thamma Box Office Update: Reaches Rs 123.80 Cr in 15 Days, Growth Slows Down
Thamma hits Rs 123.80 cr domestic after 15 days, but faces tough third week amid new releases.
Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest outing, Thamma, appears to be losing steam after an initially promising run. The horror-comedy, which opened to impressive numbers and positive word-of-mouth during the festive season, now stands at Rs 123.80 crore in domestic collections after 15 days. Despite being part of Maddock Films’ expanding horror-comedy universe, the film’s earnings have plateaued, showing no significant growth in its third week.
According to industry estimates, Thamma made Rs 2 crore on Tuesday, slightly higher than its Monday business thanks to discounted ticket prices. The film wrapped up its extended first week with Rs 108.4 crore, ranking as the second-highest opener in the Maddock horror-comedy lineup after the blockbuster Stree 2. Notably, it also marked the biggest opening of Ayushmann Khurrana’s career, surpassing Dream Girl 2’s debut collection of Rs 10.69 crore.
After maintaining double-digit numbers until its sixth day, Thamma’s earnings declined steadily. The film saw temporary relief during the festive holidays, which brought in families and young audiences, but once the celebrations ended, the collections witnessed a sharp dip. Trade experts attribute this downtrend to dwindling repeat audiences and the arrival of new competition at the box office. However, certain regions in the South reportedly showed better stability in collections, as noted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma features Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, supported by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film interlinks with other Maddock horror-comedy titles such as Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, enriching the growing cinematic universe. The makers were hoping to capitalize on the expanding fan base of this genre, but early indications suggest the film may not achieve blockbuster status.
Critics, however, have praised the performances, especially Rashmika Mandanna’s portrayal, as she seamlessly transitions between fear and wit. NDTV’s Saibal Chatterjee noted that both leads delivered engaging performances in an otherwise uneven narrative. While the film continues to draw moderate footfalls, Thamma’s chances of crossing the Rs 150-crore mark appear slim unless it manages a strong resurgence in the coming days.
