Spider-Man Brand New Day Beats Dhurandhar, with ₹100 Crore India Run in 2 Days

Spider-Man film hits ₹100 crore in two days.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has created a major box office impact in India, crossing the ₹100 crore mark within just two days of its theatrical release. The Tom Holland-led Marvel superhero film has reportedly collected around ₹109 crore net in the Indian market, achieving a milestone that has previously been reached mainly by big-budget Indian blockbusters and major franchise releases. The film opened with a massive response from audiences, earning an estimated ₹60 crore net on its first day in India. The opening collection reportedly made it the biggest debut ever for a Hollywood film in the country, surpassing the previous record held by Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, which had generated extraordinary excitement among Indian audiences during its 2019 release.

On its second day, the film continued its strong run by adding approximately ₹49 crore net to its domestic total. Despite Friday being a regular working day, the film witnessed no major decline in collections, indicating strong audience demand and continued interest among fans of the Spider-Man franchise. The two-day total took the film’s India collection to nearly ₹109 crore net, according to early box office estimates. The performance places Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of the opening pace of several successful Indian films. The film’s two-day earnings have reportedly surpassed the initial collections of movies such as Dhurandhar, which earned around ₹60 crore during its first two days, and Dunki, which collected less than ₹50 crore during the same period.

However, box office comparisons can vary depending on release conditions, ticket prices, screen availability and audience response. A major factor behind the film’s success has been the performance of its English-language version. According to early trade figures, the English version has contributed around ₹60 crore to the film’s India collection, making it the biggest contributor. The Hindi dubbed version has reportedly added around ₹39 crore, showing the continued popularity of Marvel films among audiences beyond metropolitan English-speaking viewers. The strong opening also highlights the lasting popularity of the Spider-Man character in India.

Over the years, the superhero has developed a massive fan following across different age groups, with Marvel’s cinematic universe helping expand its reach.  Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker has been particularly well received, with his earlier standalone films and appearances in Marvel crossover projects building anticipation for the latest instalment. Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks another major chapter in Marvel’s ongoing superhero franchise. The film’s early box office performance reflects the power of established global brands in India’s theatrical market, where Hollywood productions continue to compete strongly alongside major domestic releases. The success of Marvel films in India has also encouraged studios to focus more on the country as a key international market.

Strong localisation strategies, including dubbed versions in regional languages, wider theatrical releases and promotional campaigns, have helped Hollywood films connect with a broader Indian audience. Despite its record-breaking start, the film’s final box office outcome will depend on its performance over the coming weeks. Audience word-of-mouth, competition from other releases and sustained ticket sales will determine whether the film can maintain its momentum and join the list of the highest-grossing Hollywood releases in India. For now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved a remarkable milestone by crossing ₹100 crore in India within 48 hours. The film’s opening has once again demonstrated the strength of superhero franchises and the growing importance of the Indian market in global cinema.
