Ranveer Singh Issues Legal Notice To FWICE Following Non-Cooperation Directive
Ranveer Singh responds legally to FWICE directive amid Don 3 controversy.
Actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly issued a legal notice to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) following a recent “non-cooperation directive” issued against him in connection with the ongoing controversy surrounding Don 3. The development adds a new legal dimension to an escalating dispute between the actor and the film industry body.
The controversy began last week when FWICE announced during a press conference that it had imposed a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer. The federation stated that its members would not work with the actor until the issues surrounding his reported exit from Don 3 were resolved. The decision immediately drew attention within the film industry, given the scale and prominence of the project.
According to reports, FWICE members claimed that producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had approached the federation with concerns after Ranveer stepped away from the film shortly before its scheduled production phase. The federation also stated that it had invited the actor multiple times for discussions, but he did not appear. It further alleged that Ranveer later responded via email, stating that the matter did not fall under FWICE’s jurisdiction.

In response to the directive, Ranveer’s team had earlier issued a statement emphasising that the actor maintained respect for the film fraternity and all parties involved in the Don franchise. The statement said he had chosen to remain silent amid speculation and believed that professional matters should be handled with “dignity, maturity, and mutual respect,” adding that he continued to focus on his ongoing work commitments.
The new legal notice, reportedly sent on Tuesday, is expected to prompt a formal response from FWICE. While the specific demands made by the actor have not been disclosed, the federation is likely to address the matter through legal channels. The development marks a significant escalation in the dispute, which has already attracted widespread industry attention.
As the situation unfolds, both sides appear to be maintaining firm positions, with FWICE standing by its directive and Ranveer contesting the action through legal means. The outcome is likely to have implications for industry practices regarding coordination between actors, producers, and worker unions in high-profile film projects such as Don 3.
