Priyanka Chopra Shuts Down Marriage Speculation: "People Waiting For It To Implode"
Priyanka dismisses marriage rumours as water off a duck's back.
Actor Priyanka Chopra has said she no longer allows public speculation about her marriage to singer Nick Jonas to affect her, nearly eight years after the couple tied the knot. In a recent interview with Variety, Chopra addressed the scrutiny surrounding their relationship, saying she has learned to tune out persistent gossip and predictions about their marriage failing.
“We're eight years in. If people want to keep waiting for it to implode, that's their choice. I stopped thinking about it,” she said. Chopra reflected on the early criticism the couple faced, including commentary about their 10-year age gap, intercultural background and whirlwind romance. “I don't know what it was about us that rubbed people the wrong way. I think there was the intercultural nature of it — different countries, different religions, and age gaps. It was very hurtful,” she added.
Chopra and Jonas were married in Rajasthan in December 2018 in both Christian and Hindu ceremonies, an event that drew widespread media attention globally. She was 36 at the time, while Jonas was 26. The couple’s relationship has remained under constant public scrutiny since, particularly because of their cross-cultural backgrounds and high-profile careers in Bollywood and Hollywood.

Looking back at the early days of their relationship, Chopra acknowledged that even she was surprised by how quickly things progressed. The couple married within six months of meeting. “When I first married him, I didn't know if it was even real… But Nick has this absolute sincerity. It inspires me every day,” she said, describing her husband’s steady and grounded nature as a defining quality.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, in January 2022. Professionally, Chopra continues to balance international projects and is set to appear in the Telugu film Varanasi, the second season of Citadel, The Bluff alongside Karl Urban, and the action thriller Heads of State, further cementing her presence across global entertainment industries.
