Prakash Raj Takes a Dig at South Stars Praising 'Dhurandhar 2', Calls It "Signs of Obligations"
Prakash Raj hinted celebrity endorsements of Dhurandhar 2 may stem from industry obligations.
Actor Prakash Raj has stirred conversation on social media after reacting to a viral post highlighting praise for Dhurandhar The Revenge from several prominent South Indian stars. Taking to X, the actor appeared to take a subtle dig at the trend of public endorsements, particularly referencing actors like Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda, Jr NTR, and Mahesh Babu, who had shared positive remarks about the film.
The controversy began after a user questioned why Bollywood actors had not publicly praised the film, while several leading South Indian stars had openly supported it. Responding to the post, Prakash Raj wrote that “signs of obligations are spreading South too", suggesting that such endorsements might not always be entirely organic. His comment, accompanied by the hashtag "#justasking", quickly drew attention and sparked debate among fans and industry observers.
In a separate post, Prakash Raj further distanced himself from the film by sharing a clip of the classic song “Abhi Na Jaao Chhod Kar” from the film Hum Dono. The video featured legendary actors Dev Anand and Sadhana, and Raj captioned it by saying he was “very far” from Dhurandhar The Revenge, reinforcing his stance in a more indirect manner.

Meanwhile, several actors had earlier expressed strong appreciation for the film and its performances. Mahesh Babu described the film as a “standing ovation-worthy experience", praising its execution and performances, particularly highlighting Ranveer Singh and the film’s director Aditya Dhar. His remarks reflected widespread enthusiasm among certain sections of the industry.
Similarly, Jr NTR commended the film for its emotional impact and technical execution, while Vijay Deverakonda and Allu Arjun praised its scale, performances, and patriotic themes. Their endorsements contributed to the film’s growing buzz, especially across social media platforms where celebrity reactions often shape public perception.
The contrasting responses have triggered a broader conversation about authenticity in celebrity endorsements within the film industry. While some view such praise as genuine appreciation among peers, others, like Prakash Raj, appear to question whether professional obligations influence public statements. As discussions continue online, the episode highlights the evolving dynamics of promotion and perception in contemporary Indian cinema.
